When to call us about your refrigerator
A refrigerator is the one appliance you cannot leave until next week. When it stops holding temperature, everything inside is on a clock — which is why refrigerator calls get priority on our schedule.
We repair side-by-side, French door, top and bottom freezer, built-in and undercounter refrigerators in the home. Typical faults are sealed-system problems, a failed defrost cycle, a bad evaporator or condenser fan, a stuck damper, or a control board that has lost its mind. The technician diagnoses which of those it actually is before quoting you a repair.
Symptoms we see most
- Fridge not cooling but the freezer works
- Water pooling inside or under the unit
- Ice build-up on the back wall of the freezer
- Compressor running constantly or short-cycling
- Ice maker not producing ice
- Loud buzzing, clicking or humming

Keep it running: 4 things worth doing
The maintenance that prevents most of the calls we take on this appliance.
Vacuum the condenser coils
Twice a year, behind the lower kick plate or on the back. Dust-choked coils are the single most common cause of a fridge that runs constantly.
Hold 37–40°F and 0°F
Fresh food at 37–40°F, freezer at 0°F. Warmer wastes food; colder wastes power and ices the evaporator.
Test the door seal
Close the door on a banknote. If it pulls out with no resistance, the gasket is leaking cold air at that point.
Leave room at the back
A couple of inches of clearance lets the unit reject heat. Pushed flat to the wall, it works far harder.
What a repair costs
We quote before we start. A technician diagnoses the appliance in your home, explains what failed, and gives you the repair price — you decide with the number in front of you.
The trip charge covers the visit and the on-site diagnosis. If you approve the repair, labor is quoted on top based on the job.
- No charge for the quote once a technician is on site
- Genuine manufacturer parts
- 30-day labor warranty on the same issue and a 60-day warranty on the parts we install
- Card, and invoicing for commercial accounts
The Iskander Repair Promise
Every repair is backed by a 30-day labor warranty on the same issue and a 60-day warranty on the parts we install — residential and commercial alike. We fit genuine manufacturer parts, and you approve the price before any work starts. If the same fault comes back inside the warranty period, we come back out.
Refrigerator Repair — your questions answered
That pattern usually points at airflow rather than refrigerant. The most common causes are a failed evaporator fan, a blocked defrost drain, or a defrost system that has iced over the evaporator coil so cold air can no longer reach the fresh-food compartment. All three are repairable in the home.
As a rough rule, if the unit is under roughly eight years old, or it is a built-in or premium brand, repair is almost always the better value — those units are expensive to replace and built to be serviced. For a basic freestanding fridge past ten years with a failed compressor, replacement often makes more sense. Our technician will tell you honestly which side of that line your unit falls on.
Most repairs are completed in a single visit, usually within one to two hours. If your model needs a part we do not carry on the van, we order it and return — the diagnosis and the quote still happen on the first visit.
